Gleiwitz, Death train

I could not allow myself to die.

The death ride traveled via Prague, which was still in German hands. After an appeal on the Czech radio on 5 May 1945, the ‘Prague rebellion’ of the population of the city against the German occupation started. The rebellion ended with a cease-fire and the withdrawal of the Wehrmacht from Prague on 8 May 1945. The next day the Red Army entered the city.
