Liège
Jun 4, 1945
Liège was liberated on 6 September 1944. Belgium was occupied primarily by the 15th German Army that withdrew at a hurried pace and had only one goal, to blockade the Western Scheldt and the entrance to the port of Antwerp. At the end of 1944, the Western Scheldt was the scene of heavy fighting, also in the Dutch area.
