Leonberg airplane factory

Leonberg concentration camp
23 maart – 4 april 1945

I built airplanes, and I can assure you that whatever I built never worked.

The Messerschmitts were the most important German fighter planes of the Second World War: the single engine Bf 109; the twin engine Bf 110, Me 210 and Me 410; the rocket propelled plane Me 163; and world’s first operational jet Me262.

Forced laborers from 24 countries came from concentration camps like Natzweiler, Dachau, Auschwitz, Flossenbürg, and Sachsenhausen; these forced laborers, emaciated to the bone, worked in teams for twelve to eighteen hours.
