Later it turned out that we were in the rooms of the kapos, who had everything.
A large part of the Dutch population received help from the Dutch Red Cross during the occupation. But many Jewish survivors and returning political prisoners have negative memories of the role of this humanitarian organization that barely sent any parcels to the camps and was conspicuous by its absence during repatriation.
